Professional signage, promotional items, business cards, and more. You name it, and Patch Print Ship and More Inc., located in Patchogue, can make it for you.
Patch Print Ship and More was founded in March 2020, by James and Ron Diele-Stein – March 16, as a matter of fact – right as Covid-19 forced a nationwide shutdown.
“Did we survive? Yes,” James Diele-Stein told the Press. “Did we struggle? Absolutely. But there was nothing more that we could do other than just get through it, because we literally put our whole life savings into this and we weren’t going to let it go.”
Ron worked for a law firm – and still does – while James was overseeing a photo booth business they ran together.
“We were actually on our honeymoon, September of 2019,” James said. “And I was like, ‘Let’s look at a different type of business, something that’s essential. And as I was walking through this printing and shipping shop, you know, we spoke to a firm in Vegas, and I was talking to them, getting some information from them, and I said, ‘Hey, you know, this sounds great.’ We looked into it more and more and I was like, but I want something that’s just more than a printing and shipping shop. I don’t want to be a UPS [United Parcel Service] store. I don’t want to be a FedEx location. I want to be something unique because we’re in Patchogue Village.”
After talking to the Patchogue Chamber of Commerce, the Diele-Steins received approval, and after going back to Las Vegas in February 2020 to get some training on running a printing business, Patch Print opened its doors.
Despite the struggle from the pandemic, they saw success in making graduation signs for high school and college classes of 2020, most of whom had lost their graduation ceremonies to the pandemic.
“I was literally doing those signs in my sleep,” James added, with a laugh.
But now, in the post-pandemic world, Patch Print lives up to its “And More,” name, and makes just about anything you could imagine from a print shop – from custom holiday ornaments to dog bandanas, tote bags, mugs, cutting boards, pillows, and more.
Both of the Diele-Steins are Long Island natives – James is from West Islip, while Ron is from Holbrook. It’s the community of Patchogue, however, that led them both here.
“This village is incredible,” Diele-Stein said. “Everybody stands together. And that was the reason why I wanted to be here because it is a tight community.”
