Yan Nie is Syosset Public Library’s June Artist of the month. Nie is a Long Island-based contemporary artist that immigrated to the United States in 2017. Nie is internationally recognized and has participated in many international exhibitions.
Nie is a member of the China Artists Association, Manhasset Artists Association of Long Island and the Overseas Chinese Artists Association.
Nie’s work has been collected by world-renowned galleries, and postcards of her artwork were issued by The China Post, a leading newspaper in Taiwan. She also founded Dong & Yan Art Studio, where she helps her students complete their portfolios.
Her artwork will be on display throughout the month of June in the Syosset Library Gallery.
Mrinalni Sharma is Syosset Library’s July Artist of the Month. Sharma is a Long Island-based artist as well.
Sharma holds a doctorate in biochemistry and is an Advanced Placement Chemistry teacher. Outside of her passion for teaching and chemistry, Sharma loves to paint with acrylics and watercolors. Her work is inspired by nature, and recently has delved into abstract paintings as well. Selections of her paintings will be on display in the Syosset Library Gallery during July.
In addition to rotating artwork in the library’s gallery, the Syosset Public Library has a Museum Pass Program. The program allows patrons to visit museums and gardens on Long Island and in New York City.
