Summertime Essentials: Make All The Usuals Special This Year

fashionjulyfeatured

The definition of “summer essentials” is subjective, as I recently found out while shopping with a friend who declared a Tiffany & Co. pail and shovel a must-have. I tried convincing my husband of the value of sterling silver beach accessories, but it was a battle that was decisively lost.

That said, we can all agree on a few basics, like swimwear and oh-so-perfect polish.

With that in mind here’s a look at some fabulous items to consider adding to your shopping list.

  1. Nothing says it’s summer like getting a sweat in at Barry’s. With locations across Long Island, odds are you’ll find a convenient spot to get your cardio and strength training beatdown – while also having fun. All Hampton locations, for example, are having a Saint James Iced Tea takeover with complimentary refreshments in-studio along with special themed classes offering gifting every Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer.Summer
  2. For an outfit that will look as good at Barry’s as it will on the court or at the prime table at Casa Sereña, checkout the latest launches from Splits59. They’ve got everything from cute little tennis dresses to form-fitting leggings, tees, and accessories.Summer
  3. As we transition into the thick of summer, Zoya has a wide range of non-toxic, BIG 10 Free polish shades to choose from for your beach look. We’re loving their Beachy Brights 2 collection offering a range of tasteful neons and brights.Summer
  4. Staud’s Dolce one-piece swimsuit, inspired by their signature dress, is the suit of the season. Available at Long Island retailers including Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom, it comes in a variety of color options and the side cutouts are surprisingly flattering.Summer
  5. This Kule top has a vibe and we’re all here for it. The brand’s Après Tennis collection, available at Madewell in Manhasset, is the perfect way to make a posh statement while remaining comfortable, – whether or not you actually play tennis.Summer
  6. Kourtney Kardashian got her hands on this special collaboration between Cybex and Jeremy Scott a few months ago, but now we can all finally push around this fabulous retro stroller. Part of the brand’s new car collection it comes complete with tail fins, chrome accents and a see-it-from-the-moon turquoise shade. You can shop Cybex at Bambi Baby, Bloomingdale’s and ANB Baby, among many others across Long Island. The Priam model is so smooth you can literally push it with one hand with your eyes closed.Summer
  7. While it’s available in white and black, we love the mushroom hue best for this Alala set as it manages to be effortlessly easy to style while also standing out in trendy studios, like Tracy Andrson. Plus, it washes well, coming out like new even after dozens of cycles and barbecue stains. Check out the brand at Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom and more.Summer
  8. You can always count on Bang & Olufsen to come through when it comes to sound, but they outdid themselves with Beosound Explore. Designed for the outdoors, it combines a tough exterior (critical for any toddler DJs…) with a beautiful Scandinavian design. Plus, it’s dustproof and waterproof and available at a long list of retailers across Long Island.Summer
  9. Add some spice to your summer look with Aquazzura’s Chili Embellished Raffia Sandals, which come topped with pompoms and chilies. Retailers like Nordstrom have a wide variety of Aquazzura including other iterations of this shoe (think lemons!).Summer
  10. This woven lightweight raffia Gucci bag is the perfect find to take you to the beach and beyond, whether you’re packing for a solo tan session or have the whole family in tow. Snag it at the Gucci store in Manhasset.
