Cooking Presentation Presented by Chef Robert Dell’Amore

2:00 – 3:30 p.m. (Bethpage Public Library, 47 Powell Ave, Bethpage). Watch a demonstration by Chef Robert Dell’Amore making an aromatic and filling Vegetarian Chili in the Aviation Room and Kitchen of the Bethpage Public Library. 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. (Bethpage Public Library, 47 Powell Ave, Bethpage). After an amazing first date, Bea and Ben’s fiery attraction turns ice-cold–until they find themselves unexpectedly reunited at a wedding in Australia. So they do what any two mature adults would do: pretend to be a couple. Starring Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney. This movie is rated R for language, sexual content, and brief graphic nudity. The movie’s run time is 1 hour and 43 minutes.

Live Animal Show

7:00 – 8:00 p.m. (Farmingdale Public Library, 116 Merritts Rd, Farmingdale). Join the Center for Science Teaching and Learning of Rockville Centre and get an up-close look at reptiles, insects, and mammals. You won’t want to miss this fun and educational show! Programs run by the Children’s Department are for children residing in UFSD #22 only. You MUST use your child’s library card to register. Registration with an adult card will be invalid. 

Rock & Roll Staycation: Cool Music Landmarks of NY

7:00 – 8:00 p.m. (Hicksville Public Library, 169 Jerusalem Avenue, Hicksville). Take a visual trip through the rich rock n’ roll history of Long Island and Manhattan with Clive Young! Discover the secret locations where classic album covers by Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, The Doors, The Rolling Stones and others were shot. Where was the eatery that inspired Billy Joel’s “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant?” What Rock & Roll Hall of Fame group shot a record sleeve right on Long Island’s Meadowbrook Parkway? Summer Outdoor Concert: Groovin’ Blue Tribute Band

7:00 – 8:30 p.m. (Levittown Veterans Memorial Park, Shelter Lane & Hempstead Turnpike). Enjoy this seven-piece band that plays the hit songs of Linda Ronstadt and the Young Rascals. Outdoor concerts will take place in Levittown Veterans Memorial Park across from the library’s front entrance. Please bring your own chairs and snacks and wear your dancing shoes. In inclement weather, the concert will move inside the library on a first-come, first-seated basis. No tickets are required. Open to all.  

Drop-in Pre-School Storytime

10:30 – 11:00 a.m. (Massapequa Public Library, 523 Central Avenue, Massapequa) . Join us for 30 minutes of stories, songs, and activities. No registration required for this activity. This program is designed for kids and their adults. Please plan to be engaged with your child during the class. Film Screening: “La La Land” (2016)

2:00 – 4:30 p.m. (Plainview – Old Bethpage Public Library, 999 Old Country Rd). While navigating their careers in Los Angeles, a pianist and an actress fall in love while attempting to reconcile their aspirations for the future. This film stars Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, and John Legend. Movies are shown in the Auditorium and are free and open to all. In the event of a large turnout, POB residents with photo IDs will be admitted first, others as space permits. Ten minutes before a film is scheduled to begin, the Library requires that saved seats be given to those who have arrived if no other seats are available.
