With the school year drawn to a close, our local seniors were provided with a plethora of scholarships to aid them on their journey into higher education. 

Bethpage

On May 23, New York State Senator Steve Rhoads was honored to present the New York State Senate Citizenship Award to Bethpage High School Seniors Alisha Siddiqui and Michael LoBosco at their Senior Awards Night.

Order Sons and Daughters of Italy, Galileo Galilei Lodge were proud to present scholarships to two Hicksville High School students. Pictured from the left in attendance were Sean (on behalf of NYS Senator Steven Rhoads), Recipient Ryan Iannuzzo, Nassau County Legislator Rose Marie Walker, Recipient Vera Linarte of the Dante Alighieri Award for her hard work in Italian Studies, Committee Chairperson Laura DiGirolamo, Vice President Peter Sarandrea and Worthy President Chris Hirschberg.

The Hicksville Boys & Girls Club’s 2024 scholarship winners are Hannah Mathew and Oscar Duran Pena. Hannah has been volunteering her time at the Hicksville Boys & Girls Club for a few years now and will be attending Baruch College this fall. Oscar has been an involved member of our club since he was in middle school and will be attending Nassau Community College this fall. Oscar’s scholarship was provided through a generous donation to the club from one of our Board members Randi Ross and her husband Steve. The club would like to congratulate our two winners and wish them success in their continuing educational endeavors. In the attached pictures are Randi Ross (Board Member), Harry J. Every year the Levittown Chamber of Commerce awards a scholarship to a senior at General Douglas MacArthur High School, Division Avenue High School and Island Trees High School. This year each winner received a check for $1,000 from the chamber along with donors Louise Cassano, Robert L. Ryan, William J. Powell and Ann Torcivia. Pictured are scholarship recipients Carolina Juarez (Division), Alicia Loprete (Island Trees), and Emily Cavanaugh (General Douglas MacArthur) with Chamber President Christine Sweeney. All three scholarship recipients are attending college, pursuing studies in the field of science.
