Air Force Veteran Jennifer D. Hower, Esq., was recently honored as the ‘Veterans Volunteer of the Year’ at the Town of Oyster Bay’s annual Salute to America concert.
Hower, of Bayville, is the post adjutant for the American Legion Robert H. Spittel Post 1285, where she records meeting minutes for both officer and general membership meetings. She is also responsible for keeping members advised of upcoming events, completing necessary reports for higher headquarters and issuing official correspondence on behalf of the post.
“The Town of Oyster Bay’s ‘Salute to America’ Celebration provides the ideal backdrop to recognize veterans and individuals who continue to actively serve in the community and advocate for issues and concerns relative to veterans,” said Supervisor Joseph Saladino. “We are proud to recognize and honor amazing individuals like Jennifer, who have helped to shape our communities for the better through their continuing advocacy and exemplary community service.”
Hower is part of the post’s scholarship committee, prepares scripts for American Legion ceremonies and ensures that participants are prepared for their roles. She further represents the post at public functions, and assists in organizing the Village of Bayville’s Memorial Day Parade.
