Upcoming community meetings will be held to inform the public about a proposed change to the New York State Constitution.
The New York Equal Rights Amendment is on the ballot after being passed twice by the state legislature. State Assembly Member Charles Lavine (D) will host the meetings.
“It’s my hope that these meetings will help get more people to vote,” Lavine said. “It’s crucial that voters learn about this proposed change, which greatly expands the number of people protected from discrimination.”
The assemblyman will be joined by a representative from Planned Parenthood of Greater New York Action Fund at all the meetings to discuss and answer questions about the ERA.
The dates and times for all the meetings are as follows:
Tue 9/10 from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at The Bryant Library, 2 Papermill Road, Roslyn,
Tue 9/24 from 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at the Gold Coast Public Library, 50 Railroad Ave, Glen Head
Thu 9/26 from 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m at the Oyster Bay Community Center, 59 Church St, Oyster Bay
Tue 10/8 from 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m at the Hicksville Public Library, 169 Jerusalem Ave, Hicksville
Wed 10/23 from 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library, 999 Old Country Rd, Plainview,
Wed 10/30 from 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m at the Westbury Memorial Public Library, 445 Jefferson Street, Westbury
