The Roslyn School District marked the 23rd anniversary of 9/11 with a day of remembrance and reflection.
Students, faculty and staff throughout the district wore red, white and blue to honor those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks.
At East Hills Elementary School, students gathered in front of the building to hear some short speeches, receive a lesson on the significance of the commemoration and sing patriotic songs together.
At Harbor Hill Elementary School, members of the Roslyn Fire Department joined students in the front circle to sing patriotic songs and present letters to local law enforcement members. Heights first-graders wrote letters to thank firefighters and police officers for their service.
In Roslyn Middle School, everyone recited the Pledge of Allegiance, listened to a remembrance speech from principal Johanson and observed a moment of silence at the beginning of the second period.
At Roslyn High School, principal Scott Andrews led the school in a moment of silence and played “God Bless America” over the PA system.
