Girl Scouts of Nassau County recently hosted their “sweetest” event, the inaugural Thin Mint Sprint 5K Run and Family Fun Walk at Jones Beach State Park.

The event brought together hundreds of enthusiastic runners, walkers, and families, all of whom enjoyed the beautiful scenery of Jones Beach State Park during the Girl Scouts Love State Parks weekend while raising funds for the Girl Scouts of Nassau County Family Partnership campaign.

“The Thin Mint Sprint has been a dream for us, and seeing it come to life in such a spectacular way has been incredibly rewarding,” said Rande Bynum, CEO of Girl Scouts Nassau County. “Families came together not only to enjoy the day but to support the next generation of leaders. We are thrilled to see this event set the stage for what we hope will become an annual tradition of fun and community spirit.”

The event raised over $15,000 for the GSNC Family Partnership giving campaign, which ensures that all girls can participate in Girl Scouting, regardless of background or economic status. Proceeds will provide financial assistance for membership fees, uniform components, books, badges, and supplies for girls in need, helping GSNC continue its mission of building courage, confidence, and character in young girls.

Over 500 runners and walkers of all ages, both Girl Scouts and non-Girl Scouts alike, participated in the inaugural Girl Scout Cookie-themed event and enjoyed a lively activity fair. Each participant received a box of Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies as they crossed the finish line.

GSNC extends its heartfelt thanks to all participants, volunteers, and sponsors who made the first annual Thin Mint Sprint 5K and Family Fun Walk a resounding success. This event has not only strengthened the bonds within the GSNC community but has also opened doors for countless girls to pursue their passions, build lifelong friendships, and become the leaders of tomorrow.
