State Assembly Member Gina Sillitti and the Parent Resource Center hosted the first New Mom and Family Supply Exchange to help new moms and families obtain much-needed supplies.
“As a new mom myself, I understand just how overwhelming it can be. The number of items you need, from toys to diapers to the latest breast pumps, can be too much to wrap your head around,” Sillitti said.
Families whose children have outgrown clothes or toys were able to donate items they no longer need for new moms and families to use.
“I am extremely proud of this community for the incredible turnout and the amount of items donated, I even picked up a fun bouncy set for William when he’s in the office with me,” Sillitti said. “I am thrilled that we were able to help so many new families get the items they need to make being a new parent just a little less stressful.”
“The New Mom and Parent Supply Exchange displayed the true meaning of community and sustainability with parents helping each other,” executive director of the Parent Resource Center Nicole Asselta said. “Events like this remind us of a purpose bigger than ourselves.”
Sillitti said she and the Parent Resource Center hope to make this event an annual tradition.
“Thank you to everyone in the community who donated items and came to shop. Thanks to the hard work of Assembly Member Gina Sillitti and her amazing staff and volunteers and the support and collaboration of the Parent Resource Center’s staff and board of directors, we were able to organize and give away a variety of essential items, including high chairs, car seats, strollers, baby toys, books, nursing supplies, bottles, diapers and more,” Asselta said.
