Farmingdale 

Arrest

The Nassau County Police Department’s Narcotics/Vice Squad arrested a West Babylon man for criminal sale of a controlled substance on Friday, Sept. 20 in Farmingdale.

According to detectives, Mackenzie Beck, 26, was observed selling Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), Phenethylanine and Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD) in the parking lot of 7-11 at 150 Main St. 

Ketamine and approximately 252 grams of Mescaline was recovered from Beck’s vehicle, police said.

Beck was arrested without incident.

Beck was charged with three counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, seven counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree.

 

Hempstead

Homicide

The Nassau County Police Department’s Homicide Squad is investigating a homicide that occurred on Saturday, Sept. 21, in Hempstead.

According to detectives, officers responded to Yale Street for reports of a male shot. Upon arrival, officers found Maurice Sinclair Thomas, 39, in a vehicle with a gunshot wound. 

Thomas was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead by a staff physician, police said.

 The investigation is ongoing.

North Massapequa

Fatal Vehicular Accident 

The Nassau County Police Department’s Homicide Squad reported a fatal vehicular accident involving a pedestrian on Saturday, Sept. 21, in North Massapequa.  

According to detectives, a 55-year-old male pedestrian was crossing Hicksville Road in the vicinity of Boundary Avenue when he was struck by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene in an unknown direction.

 The male pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased by hospital staff, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.

West Hempstead

Public Lewdness Arrest

The Nassau County Police Department’s Public Information Office arrested a West Hempstead man for alleged public lewdness on Saturday, Sept. 21, in West Hempstead.

According to police, officers responded to Halls Pond Park located at 671 Nassau Boulevard for a report of a male committing a lewd act. 

A female, 11, observed a male inappropriately touching himself. She informed her father who also observed the incident and called the police, police said. 

Officers located Avigdor Goldemberg, 31, and arrested him without incident, police said.

Goldemberg is charged with public lewdness and endangering the welfare of a child. He was released on an appearance ticket returnable on Thursday, Oct. 10 at First District Court, Hempstead.

Hicksville

Fatal Vehicular Accident

The Nassau County Police Department’s Homicide Squad is investigating a fatal vehicular accident that occurred on Saturday, Sept. 21, in Hicksville.

According to detectives, a Subaru was traveling eastbound on Prospect Ave prior to making a left turn northbound on Cantiague Rock Road when it struck a Honda traveling westbound.  

The Subaru caught fire and became fully engulfed, police said. The Subaru driver Jannai Allen, 30, was trapped and pronounced at the scene.

The driver of the Honda, Miguel Nolasco, 42, was transported to an area hospital for his injuries, police said.

A thorough investigation was conducted and it was determined Nolasco was intoxicated at the time of the accident, police said.

He was placed under arrest.

Nolasco is charged with vehicular manslaughter in the second degree, manslaughter in the second degree and DWI. He will be arraigned when medically practical.

 

Long Island Sound

Water Rescue 

The Nassau County Police Department’s Public Information Office reported a water rescue on Sunday, Sept. 22, in the Long Island Sound.

According to police, Marine 7 of the Nassau County Police Department Marine Bureau Unit responded to reports of an overturned sailboat in the Long Island Sound. 

With the assistance of the Westchester Police Department, all four occupants of the boat were removed from the water, and the sailboat was towed to shore by the Town of North Hempstead Bay Constable, police said. FDNY Marine Bureau was also at the scene. 

Police reported no injuries. 

New Cassel

Robbery 

The Nassau County Police Department’s Third Squad is investigating a robbery that occurred on Monday, Sept. 23, in New Cassel.

According to detectives, a male, 49, was walking at the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Siegel Street when three unknown males approached the victim from behind and punched him in the head before throwing him to the ground. 

The three males removed the 49-year-old’s wallet from his pants pocket and fled on foot in an unknown direction, police said. He suffered from a contusion to his forehead and an abrasion to his left hand.

The subjects are described as Black males between 25-30 years old, police said.

Franklin Square

Burglary

The Nassau County Police Department’s Fifth Squad responded to a burglary on Tuesday, Sept. 17, in Franklin Square.

According to detectives, an unknown male unlawfully entered St. Catherine of Sienna Church located at 990 Holzheimer St. by forcing open a locked basement door. 

While inside, the male pried open a donation box and removed unknown proceeds, police said.  

The male then fled the scene in an unknown direction, police said

The male is described as a Black man, approximately 5’10” with a thin build, wearing a white hat with a blue brim, brown sweater, black pants and a black face covering, police said.

West Hempstead

Assault

The Nassau County Police Department’s Fifth Squad arrested a Queens man for an assault on Wednesday, Sept. 25, in West Hempstead.

According to detectives, officers responded to a disturbance at Hempstead Avenue and Westminster Road for an irate male passenger on a Nassau Inter-County Express (NICE) bus. 

Officers approached the Palo R. Howe, 45, who began attacking them. Two officers sustained injuries as the defendant was violent and combative while resisting arrest, police said.

Both officers were transported to local area hospitals for evaluation and treatment. Howe was also transported to a local area hospital. 

Howe is charged with two counts of assault in the second degree, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. 

New Hyde Park

DWI 

The Nassau County Police Department’s Third Precinct arrested a South Floral Park man for a DWI that occurred on Friday, Sept. 27, in New Hyde Park.

According to police, officers responded to “Touch of Class 2,” a nail salon located at 18 Jericho Tpke., for reports of a car that collided into the building. 

Officers observed that an unoccupied Acura struck the nail salon causing extensive damage to the building. The building was unoccupied, police said.

Officers located Antonio Fleming, 28, walking away from the collision. After a thorough investigation, Fleming was arrested for driving while intoxicated, police said.

Fleming is charged with DWI, DWAI and resisting arrest.
