Sid Jacobson JCC’s annual Stronger Than Cancer 5K Run, Walk and Family Day raised close to $300,000 in support of the JCC’s Nancy Marx Cancer Wellness Center.
Nearly 500 participants gathered this past Sunday to support the center’s mission of providing essential services free of charge to individuals and families affected by cancer. The funds raised will ensure the center can continue to provide services such as individual and family counseling, support groups, wellness programs such as yoga and fitness, and a wide range of resources to assist survivors and caregivers as they navigate the challenges of cancer.
Runners, walkers, families and community members joined together to show their support for those impacted by cancer.
This year, Sid Jacobson JCC honored Susan Stein, a social worker at the Nancy Marx Cancer Wellness Center, for her dedication and the impact she has had on the lives of so many individuals touched by cancer.
“It is deeply humbling to be this year’s honoree. My time at our Nancy Marx Cancer Wellness Center has revealed the true strength of compassion in supporting those affected by cancer,” Stein said. “Being able to stand by their side throughout their journey is a profound privilege, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to make a difference.”
Director of the Nancy Marx Cancer Wellness Center, Randy Hight, said, “[Susan’s] unwavering commitment to NMCWC has transformed the lives of countless individuals impacted by cancer and their caregivers. Her compassion and dedication shine brightly here at Sid Jacobson JCC.”
Additionally, Sid Jacobson JCC’s NMCWC Advisory Board was presented with the Community Service Award in recognition of their outstanding contributions.
