During their first unit in the school’s Discovery Lab, John Lewis Childs School fifth graders are learning about bridges.

Working in groups, the students create truss bridges out of connector strips. Janice Hyland runs the Discovery Lab, which aims to foster creativity, discovery, invention and imagination through STEAM lessons in kindergarten through sixth grade.
