Over 100 community members attended the annual New Hyde Park Golf Outing.

The New Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce hosted its Annual Charity Golf Outing on Sept. 18. Starting at 11 a.m. at Harbor Links Golf Club in Port Washington, participants ate brunch, followed by a game of 18 holes. This rolled into cocktail hour and dinner at 6 p.m., with community members having the chance to win various raffle prizes.

This year’s outing honored Mark Laytin, member of the golf committee for over 15 years; Richard DeMartino, past president of the chamber of commerce; and Ralph Ventura, past-president of the chamber of commerce. The three honorees, which the chamber refers to as the “three musketeers,” have been instrumental in the success of this annual event.

Christopher Vulpis, co-committee chair of the New Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing, said the outing typically generates between $30,000 and $40,000. The proceeds will help charities such as the Greater New Hyde Park Chamber Charity Fund, Katie’s Run, Wounded Warrior Project, local school scholarships, Colette Coyne Melanoma Foundation, New Hyde Park Gladiator Fund, Ronald McDonald House, Casey Falconer Scholarship Fund, St. Baldricks Foundation, and more.

“We raised the most amount of money we ever raised with the golf outings,” Vulpis said. “And those funds were equally split between the charity arm of the New Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce and the New Hyde Park Lions Club.”

Vulpis said the golf outing will return next year. The date and information on the honorees aren’t set yet.

“Thank you to all the sponsors, Harbor Links, Stretch Lab, and the many businesses who graciously donate raffles year after year, all the volunteers who donated endless hours to make this fundraiser a success, and all the golfers and guests who came out to support both organizations,” Dana DeSimpliciis, executive assistant of the Greater New Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce, said in a release.
