The Mineola Kiwanis Club of County Seat hosted its biggest fundraiser of the year, honoring New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli.
The fundraiser, held on Sept. 25 at Harbor Links Golf Course in Port Washington, was the group’s 12th annual golf outing. All of the proceeds collected benefitted the local community and groups such as the Ronald McDonald House, St. Aidans School, book bags and sneakers for kids and student scholarships.
“The golf outing has always been very successful with so many people coming out to support our causes. This year was no exception,” Joel Harris, public relations of the Mineola Kiwanis Club of County Seat, said.
The event started at 10 a.m. with people registering to play golf and eating a buffet-style breakfast. Afterwards, attendees played on the 18-hole golf course, which Harris said was professional and challenging. Over 100 people were at the outing.
Later that day, DiNapoli, graduate of Mineola High School, was honored at the outing’s dinner.
“We want to thank all our sponsors for their generosity and all our local businesses for all the prizes they donated to make our raffles as successful as they were,” Harris said.
The next golf outing will be on Sept. 10 at Harbor Links.
“We continue to look forward to supporting all those in our community that we can be of assistance to,” Harris said.
