North Shore TV is celebrating four decades of local coverage for the North Shore community, honoring its longstanding commitment to its community.
“Our station has grown and changed, but our mission remains the same: to serve our community,” Executive Director Erica Bradley said. “We’re excited for what the future holds.”
North Shore TV is the local community media public access station, which has featured a wide array of diverse local stories throughout its history. The station has covered everything from local town halls to political debates, cultural events, businesses and prominent community members.
The station’s mission over the past 40 years has been to provide a platform for local voices by telling their stories and keeping the community informed. Integral to this mission is also providing a space for marginalized and underrepresented communities to have representation in local media.
Its tenets are to promote transparency, civic participation and community engagement.
“Community media is about more than just television; it’s about giving the people of our community a platform to engage with each other and take an active role in shaping the world around them,” Bradley said. “For 40 years, we’ve been proud to serve as that platform.”
North Shore TV also offers educational workshops in video production, editing and broadcasting to bolster media literacy and technical skills.
Its 40th anniversary will be held on Oct. 24 at the Inn at Great Neck. The main honoree of the event will be New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli.
