The Manhasset Secondary School was named to the 2024 Advanced Placement Program (AP) School Honor Roll, earning platinum distinction, the highest honor a school can receive.
This is the second consecutive year that Manhasset Secondary School has achieved this recognition.
The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools that have done outstanding work to welcome more students into AP courses and support them on the path to college success.
According to the AP, the three criteria for Platinum schools are:
1. Expand your school’s college culture by enabling 80% of the Class of 2025 to experience one AP course before graduating.
2. Assist with college affordability by enabling 50% of the Class of 2025 to earn college credit by earning an AP Exam score of 3.
3. Optimize student’s college readiness by creating opportunities for 15% of the Class of 2025 to take a total of three APs across their high school years, with at least one taken in ninth or tenth grade.
Twenty-nine Advanced Placement courses are offered annually at Manhasset Secondary School with more than 620 students taking 1,791 exams during the 2023-2024 school year.
“The district is proud to celebrate our students, educators and administrators who are directly responsible for this remarkable achievement,” Superintendent of Schools Gaurav Passi said. “This recognition is a testament to the focus, dedication and tenacity of our students, as well as the passion and commitment of our educators.”
