A pair of Levittown freshmen are making a huge impact in college soccer this season. MacArthur graduates Sara Kealey and Hailey Metzger are top contributors at their respective colleges.

Kealey, a forward, has a goal and an assist thus far for the Oneonta squad, and Metzger, a midfielder, has three goals and three assists for Mercy University. Metzger has been named to the ECC’s women’s soccer honor roll.

Unsurprisingly, these 2024 MacArthur graduates have made an immediate impact in college. During their high school tenure, Kealey and Metzger were part of a core group of athletes that led the Lady Generals to Nassau County and Long Island championships. Both earned All-County honors for MacArthur and were mainstays of the powerhouse program.

Kristen Cassidy, a 2017 graduate of MacArthur High School, has been named the head coach of the women’s tennis team at Molloy University. Cassidy played tennis and basketball during her athletic career for the Generals. A team captain while playing at Moravian College, Cassidy led the Greyhounds to NCAA tournament appearances and Landmark Conference titles in both the 2019 and 2021 seasons. She lost the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  A two-time All Landmark Conference doubles selection and ITA scholar-athlete, Cassidy was Molloy’s assistant coach last season.

Another MacArthur graduate excelling is Carly Koprowski at Adelphi. Koprowski is a 2023 graduate of MacArthur and a two-sport star at Adelphi. Carly is a member of the women’s soccer team and the women’s track team. In her freshman season, Carly and the Panthers made it to the NCAA Division II National Semifinal before losing. Adelphi wound up being ranked No. 4 in the nation. Koprowski was named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll. This season, Adelphi has a 5-1 record.

On the track, Koprowski was also named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll. She captured the bronze medal at the 2024 NE10 Indoor Championship in the 800 meters (time of 2:15.39) and was a part of two gold medal relays at the same championship meet (4×400 and the distance medley relay). She also ran a personal-best of 1:00.52 in the 400 meters at the NYC Gotham Cup.

MacArthur’s Lexie Thompson begins her second season as goalkeeper at the University of Buffalo. She’s the Bulls starting keeper and has notched seven shutouts so far in 2024. Thompson, a 2023 graduate, led the Generals to four straight conference championships. She was a high school All American and two-time Goalkeeper of the Year. Lexie amassed 28 career shutouts for the Generals and was a three-time All County selection.
