State Assembly District  16 includes Great Neck, North Hills, parts of Roslyn, Manhasset and Port Washington.

Party affiliation: Republican

Bio: Daniel Norber, a lifelong Republican, is a first-generation American and self-made business owner. His grandparents survived the Holocaust, and his mother escaped Communism in the Soviet Union.

Born in the United States and raised in Israel, Norber was drafted into the Israeli Defense Forces at age 17 where he served as a staff sergeant in the military police.

Daniel Norber is married with four children.

According to Norber’s campaign website, Norber’s priorities include crime and saftey, immigration, improving life for the middle class, small business and economy, healthcare, seniors, education, veterans and Israel.

Norber said he wants to add funding to local community police and work to stop drugs from coming into the country. He wants to work with state and local governments to confiscate and get illegal guns off our streets. Norber’s website states that he will advocate for sensible revisions to cashless bail and discovery laws to protect the rights of the accused while ensuring the safety and security of law-abiding citizens.

Norber said he wants to invest in training for skilled trades and technology jobs to develop the small business workforce further and equip them with the skills to fill the positions of the future, Norber’s website states.

Norber said wants to work to reform our asylum process, protect our borders, and increase border security. I will work with local officials to protect our communities from tent cities like in the city.
