North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jennifer DeSena, Council Member Edward Scott, Council Member Mariann Dalimonte, and Planning Department Commissioner Nancy Shahverdi are pleased to announce that the North Hempstead Historic Landmarks Commission will host Open House Meet & Greets for homeowners and residents of the Roslyn Heights Historic District and the Port Washington Historic District.
The Roslyn Heights Historic District residents are invited to attend the Open House Meet & Greet on Wednesday, November 6, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Bryant Library, 2 Papermill Road, Roslyn. The Port Washington Historic District residents are invited to attend the Open House Meet & Greet on Wednesday, November 13, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Jeanne Rimsky Theater, Landmark on Main Street, 232 Main Street, Port Washington.
“Navigating the ins and outs of building in a Historic District can be tricky, but North Hempstead is here to provide necessary guidance for our residents,” said Supervisor DeSena. “It is important to me that our residents have an open line of communication with their government.
“I care very deeply about the protection of historic sites throughout our wonderful town,” said Planning Commissioner Shahverdi. “Our historic districts serve to remind us of the pioneers that helped build North Hempstead, and it is important that we honor their legacy by preserving the landmarks that make our town so unique.”
Residents of the Roslyn Heights Historic District and the Port Washington Historic District are encouraged to attend their respective Meet & Greets. They will be able to meet members of the Town’s Landmarks Commission. Residents are encouraged to ask specific questions about what changes are allowed to your ard. Better understand the procedures, protocols, and requirements governing modifications to your home—access resources or information that may be available to you to guide your project(s). Discuss how living in a historic district may add value to your home, and learn about existing town landmarks.
