The Marker brings modern flavors and scenic views to Glen Cove golf course

The Marker, a new addition to Glen Cove’s dining scene, opened its doors at the Glen Cove Golf Course, blending stunning views of the Long Island Sound with an innovative menu crafted by seasoned restaurateurs Eric Talese and Kent Monkan.

With its newly renovated indoor dining room and inviting outdoor spaces, The Marker aims to provide a casual yet sophisticated atmosphere for both golf enthusiasts and locals alike.

“Being on the golf course is such a unique benefit,” said co-owner Eric Talese. “It’s not a private country club—anyone can come in and enjoy the space, whether they’re finishing a round of golf or just stopping by for dinner. We wanted to create an environment that feels inclusive and welcoming.”

A tradition of excellence

Talese and Monkan are no strangers to the restaurant industry, boasting an impressive roster of successful establishments across Long Island. Monkan, known for his work at The Brass Rail in Locust Valley and Heirloom Tavern in Glen Head, has brought his expertise as an executive chef and restaurateur to this new venture. Together, the duo also co-own Choppers Burger Bar in Glen Head and The Wild Goose in Port Washington.

“Each of our restaurants has its own identity,” Talese said. “With The Marker, we wanted to capture the laid-back charm of the golf course while still delivering the high-quality food and service that people associate with our other locations.”

A space transformed

Taking over the property earlier this year, Talese and Monkan immediately set out to renovate the existing space, which had grown dated over time. The transformation began in March and the results speak for themselves.

“The place was dark and closed off,” Talese explained. “We opened it up, added glass walls and revamped the patio area to create a bright, airy feel. Now, when you walk in, you can see straight through to the course—it’s stunning.”

In addition to structural updates, a new roof and fresh interior design elements were added to enhance the dining experience.

A menu to match

The Marker’s menu, which blends modern American cuisine with locally sourced ingredients, caters to a wide range of tastes. Early favorites include the Southern-inspired chicken and waffles, decadent bananas foster pancakes and classic brunch staples served during weekend brunch hours from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“Our goal was to offer a menu that feels approachable yet elevated,” Talese said. “We’re working with local producers for seafood and produce to ensure everything is as fresh as possible.”

The restaurant is closed on Mondays but remains open for breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout the rest of the week, making it a convenient stop for golfers and non-golfers alike.

A shared vision

Monkan’s culinary background and Talese’s business acumen have proven to be a winning combination. The two share a vision for creating restaurants that not only serve great food but also foster a sense of community.

“Every restaurant we’ve opened has been about more than just the food—it’s about the people,” Talese said. “Whether it’s regulars at The Brass Rail or newcomers at The Marker, we want everyone to feel at home when they walk through the door.”

A destination for all

The Marker is set apart not only by its scenic location but also by its versatility. Its setting at the Glen Cove Golf Course provides a unique charm, offering visitors a relaxed dining experience amid picturesque surroundings.
