Levels, the teen center in the Great Neck Library, will present “Lobes,” an original play by teen playwright Bea Pitt Stoller, on Dec. 19, 20 and 21 at 8 p.m.

The show is open to the public and admission is free.  No tickets are required.

In “Lobes,” a girl from our world is transported into another dimension, where a person’s role and social status is determined by whether their earlobes are free or attached.  Initially confused, she soon learns about the struggles that the people living in this world face.  She joins the fight to try to make things better, and end the reign of the Auditocracy and their Five and a Half Proclamations of the Lobe.

The play is funny, thought-provoking and a very timely commentary.

The show’s all-teen creative staff is led by director and playwright Bea Pitt Stoller, a South High School senior who has been seen onstage in Levels’ productions of “No Exit,” “Heathers” and “Carrie the Musical,” premiered two shorter original plays in our most recent Short Play Festival, and presented her own performance piece “Pretzel Day” on the Levels stage.

Producer is Judah Lyman. Set design is by Ava Whitehorn, with costume design by Crystal Tang & Angelina Zhou, lighting design by Salem Goody and publicity art by Joyce Xu.

The cast of local middle and high school students includes Eliana Hakim, Akshar Karnam, Erin Li, Neil Marantz, Nathan Miao, Emma Perreault, Peter Pitt Stoller, Crystal Tang and Angelina Zhou.

Levels, the Great Neck Library’s cultural center for teenagers established in 1974, presents several fully-staged theatrical productions a year, giving teens the opportunity to learn leadership and responsibility through the arts.  Levels productions are directed, produced and performed by students seventh grade through college-age under the guidance of Levels’ staff of accomplished adult artists.
