New Hyde Park’s Ronald McDonald House and three others in the region were awarded nearly $2 million to aid their mission in supporting families as their children battle a life-threatening disease.

“Our mission is to help families stay together and focus on what matters most: beating their child’s disease,” Senior Major Gifts Officer at Ronald McDonald House New York Alex D’Angelo said.

A total of $1. 9 million was donated to the four Ronald McDonald houses in the New York Metro region.

This incudes New Hyde Park’s Ronald McDonald House New York Metro, Ronald McDonald House New York, Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley and Ronald McDonald House of Central and Northern New Jersey.

The funds were raised through the Round-Up for Ronald McDonald House Charity, a program where McDonald’s customers could round up to the nearest dollar on their order total and the difference to be donated.

Money was also raised through the Fry Tax Initiative, which donates a penny for every pound of French fries sold in the New York Metro region.

“We are here really to celebrate the local McDonalds owner/operators, businesses and organizations,” CEO of Ronald McDonald House New York Metro Matt Campo said. “We’re just so profoundly grateful for the commitment to our shared mission.”

The donations were presented by Owner/Operators Katie Hunt-Rotolo and Josh Kaufman at the Ronald McDonald House located in New Hyde Park.

The funds will go towards Ronald McDonald Houses and provide care to families staying.

Ronald McDonald Houses supports families with children battling cancers and other diseases through housing and various other support services.

“On behalf of us all, I’d like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the local McDonalds owners and operators,” D’Angelo said. “And we really could not do what we do without your support. It’s your unwavering commitment that allows us to advance our mission and grow our services that ultimately make a difference in the lives of the people we serve.”
