On Dec. 14, Gold Coast Arts Center school director Ellen Schiff accompanied her Advanced Level II Drawing & Painting students to The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, along with Gold Coast Arts art teacher Dani Garofalo.

For many of the students, it was their first time visiting The Met. They marveled at the Temple of Dendur, one of the museum’s most iconic architectural works of art. They spent time reflecting in the Sculpture Garden and had fun recreating the 3D quality of the marble sculptures in their amazing renderings.

What they loved most was Claude Monet’s “Bridge Over a Pond of Water Lilies,” which they have painted in class many times.
