The Parker Jewish Institute rang in the New Year with a festive “Sea of Lights” celebration, followed by a Times-Square-style Ball Drop, on Tuesday, Dec. 31. The event, which took place at 5:15 p.m., was a highlight for residents, patients, and their families, offering a cheerful way to mark the start of 2024.

Local fire departments, including Engine 251 of Glen Oaks, the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department, Garden City Fire Department, New Hyde Park Fire Department, the 105th Precinct, and SeniorCare EMS, helped bring the light display to life. The Times-Square-style Ball Drop, designed and built on-site at Parker, added to the celebration’s festive atmosphere.

“This is a spectacular light show, and we are so appreciative of our first responders—not just on New Year’s Eve, but all year long. Their commitment to keeping our community safe is steadfast,” said Michael N. Rosenblut, president and CEO of Parker Jewish Institute. “We also give special thanks to the Parker community for designing, building, and activating our very own Ball Drop. Their extraordinary efforts helped brighten our celebration as we wish everyone a very Happy and Healthy New Year.”

The event continued with live music and refreshments, providing a joyful start to the New Year for all in attendance.
