Nassau County Legislature Deputy Minority Leader Arnold W. Drucker is teaming up with the New York Blood Center to host a blood drive on Tuesday, Feb. 27, from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Syosset Fire Department, 50 Cold Spring Road.
“After attracting 50 donors to our year-ending Plainview-Old Bethpage blood drive, I entered 2025 with a grateful heart and even more determination to combat Long Island’s ongoing blood donor shortage,” Drucker said in a statement.
“I am proud to once again partner with the New York Blood Center and the Syosset Fire Department on these life-saving efforts. I encourage everyone eligible to roll up their sleeves and give the gift of life—whether you are a routine donor, haven’t donated in a while, or are a first-time donor,” he added.
Eligible donors must bring ID with a signature or photo, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be between 16 and 75 years old. Sixteen-year-old donors require parental consent, while donors over 76 must provide a doctor’s note. Those with tattoos must ensure the ink is over a year old.
O-negative and B-negative blood donors, along with all other blood types, are especially needed.
Appointments are preferred but not required. Walk-ins will be accommodated as capacity allows.
To schedule an appointment, call 1-800-93-BLOOD (25663) or visit donate.nybc.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/321708.
