Manorhaven Elementary School has celebrated the official opening of its new book vending machine with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.   The event was attended by students, faculty, administrators, and members of the Manorhaven PTA.

Eric Mace, principal of Manorhaven Elementary, led the ceremony and highlighted the vending machine as a “symbol of our commitment to fostering a love of reading” among students. He emphasized that the initiative provides “opportunities for every child to grow, learn, and succeed.”

The innovative vending machine allows students to earn tokens for demonstrating positive behaviors such as kindness, responsibility, leadership, and perseverance. Tokens can then be exchanged for books, making literacy both engaging and accessible.

“This vending machine will help make reading a rewarding experience for our students,” said Dr. Mace. “We’re excited to offer this new way to encourage learning and personal growth.”

The project was made possible through the collaboration of district leaders, school staff, and the Manorhaven PTA, who worked together to bring the idea to life.

The new addition is part of Manorhaven’s ongoing efforts to inspire a love of reading and to provide students with the tools and resources they need to succeed academically.
