The Sarah Grace Foundation for Children With Cancer Inc. begins 2025 with several initiatives to continue its mission. The foundation ended the holiday season by distributing financial aid and toys to over 400 children with cancer. In January, the foundation partnered with Hicksville High School’s robotics team to collect clothing, shoes, handbags, winter accessories, towels and household linens at a clothing drive.

Looking ahead to the spring, the foundation announced the return of two events.

In April, the foundation will host its second annual Evening of Magic, which will take place on April 4 at 7 p.m. at the Milleridge Inn in Jericho. Magician and mentalist Gary Ferrar will perform. Tickets are $125 and include dinner, beer, wine, soda, coffee, dessert and the show. There will also be raffles and a 50/50 drawing.

In May, the foundation will host its Hugs for Sarah Virtual 5K. Participants can run, walk or bike to complete the 5K by May 31. Registration takes place online only and closes May 3. Race bibs will be emailed following registration. All participants receive a Hugs For Sarah medal, which will be shipped in June.

“This is the Sarah Grace Foundation’s largest fund-raising event of the year,” said Executive Director Matt Weippert. “Sarah was a fan of magic shows and during her illness always displayed an infectious smile and encouraged laughter around her. What better way to raise funds crucial to the children we serve while honoring Sarah’s memory.”
