23 Herricks High School orchestra students participated in the Long Island String Festival Association Secondary Festival at Wisdom Lane Middle School in Levittown from Jan. 31 to Feb. 2.
Students representing Herricks at the festival included Ishaan Ahuja, Sydney Chaperon, Constantine Cheung, Evelyn Chou, Adam Chu, Amanda Cui, Tiffany Hsu, Ariel Huang, Grace Kang, Albert Kuo, Teagan Lau, Claire Lee, Aidan Li, Isabella Liao, Angelina Liu, Matthew Liu, Kyle Shih, Jeremy Shim, Andrew Simons, Joelle Tan, Nathan Tan, Ryan Yen, and Cory Yuen.
Students are selected for this festival based on their New York State School Music Association Solo Evaluation scores from the previous year and their commitment to the Herricks Music Ensemble.
During the three-day festival, the string players collaborated with fellow student musicians and engaged in rehearsals with guest conductors. The festival culminated in a final performance on Feb. 2.
