From a dream to an “I do,” a wedding is more than just a celebration, it’s a major milestone and the start of a lifelong journey that calls for couples to “make your wedding a wow.”
That was the name of the recent webinar in which Nick Mattera, the president of Preferred Events and William Bruner, CEO of National Event Connection, offered their opinions and advice when it comes to planning the perfect day. There are a multitude of aspects that go into planning a wedding, a ceremony unique not only between cultures, but from couple to couple. One thing is for certain: a wedding should be a true reflection of a couple’s love story.
“You really want to try and personalize it, don’t do cookie-cutter things,” Bruner said. “Do things where people will say, ‘Do you remember that wedding five years ago?’”

The first choice many couples make when planning a wedding is whether to enjoy festivities outside or indoors. For those who chose an open-air celebration, there are a few obstacles to overcome to avoid a disaster. The biggest of which is a tent, which Mattera described as an “open canvas.”
“You have a range of both sizes and budgets,” he said “There are so many different avenues you can go down.”
Regardless of where the celebration is hosted, it is important for the couple to be involved.
“I think it’s super important, if you want to have a smooth event, you have to be involved,” Mattera added.
Communication is key between the couple and the planners, according to Bruner, who thinks you should leave personalizations to the person in charge of creating the perfect day.
“It’s about finding that fine line of how involved you want to be and what you want to put your emphasis on,” Bruner added.
Weddings require a lot of thought and moving parts that can cause stress to not only the couple, but to those in charge of creating a core memory.
“We’re there with you throughout the whole process,” Mattera said.. “We’re a teammate. We’re not just going to leave you high and dry.”
