Temple Beth-El will be hosting its Shabbat@Home event on Feb. 18

Members of Temple Beth-El of Great Neck will build stronger bonds as they celebrate Shabbat@Home with fellow congregants on Friday, Feb. 28.

All are welcome to attend the Erev Shabbat service that will be held at the temple at 7 p.m., followed by a delicious Oneg Shabbat.

“Jewish tradition teaches that our home is the center of Jewish life,” said Yanira Quiñones, director of programming and membership engagement at Temple Beth-El. “Our Shabbat@Home program offers an opportunity to either host dinner guests in your house or be a guest at a TBE friend’s place.”

During this unique opportunity to create meaningful Shabbat memories and strengthen community connections, Shabbat hosts will open their home to guests with whom they were matched. The host will provide the main course, while guests will bring a side dish, dessert or wine.

Tempe Beth-El’s Shabbat@Home team will provide prayers and activities to make the evening extra special, as participants foster new connections within the Temple Beth-El community and enjoy interesting company during this inspiring Shabbat meal.

Congregants were not charged a fee to participate, and the start time was determined by host families.

“While we often think of our synagogue as the center of our Jewish life, our tradition teaches that our home is primary,” Quiñones said. “It is at home that the celebration of Shabbat begins.”

Temple Beth-El has served the community for more than 95 years and is located at 5 Old Mill Road. New members are welcome. To arrange a tour or learn more, visit www.tbegreatneck.org, call 516-487-0900 or email info@tbegreatneck.org.
