What do you love about being in this business/being an owner?

What I love about being in this business is the personal one-on-one services we provide to our customers on a daily basis. Getting a customer in a properly fitted bra can be a life-changing experience. Working so close with women in such an intimate setting and providing no judgment, only support, is an amazing experience. Being a woman-owned business brings an opportunity to help each other. Support each other. I love all of the experiences I am living through and learning every day being an owner of a woman-owned business.

How do you feel your business impacts the local community?

Being on Main Street in Farmingdale and part of the chamber of commerce helps me in my local community. Many customers want to shop locally. We provide a specialized service. Our customers are your everyday customers, as well as the customer who may be dealing with breast cancer as well. We have had fundraisers at our store, and the community has really come together. Our customers come from as far as Montauk and Queens.

How did PSEG Long Island’s Business First Program support you?

I participated in two programs PSEG Long Island was offering at the time. The vacant space program as well as the revitalization program. When I began my research into starting my business I found these two programs. I reached out to PSEG Long Island and they helped me the whole way. I was still in the early stages of doing my research to open my business at the time. PSEG Long Island came to my ribbon-cutting ceremony to show support.

What role do you think small businesses play in promoting energy efficiency within the broader community?

My store was renovated with updated lighting during my construction. We have LED lighting throughout the boutique, energy efficient lighting in the bathroom and the office. They turn on and off upon entering the room. This helps to save electricity. I also have a smart thermostat, which is also energy efficient and helps to save us money. We are a little store, but every little bit helps the community.

How do you feel about being a Small Business Star?

I am thrilled to be chosen for the opportunity to be a Small Business Star. I have put all of my energy and efforts into everything for my business. I live and breathe my business, at the same time, I continue to learn how to keep a work/life balance. Creating a dream, and making it come to fruition is an amazing feeling. Sometimes, out of circumstances in life, you end up going in a different direction. Once I made a decision, and commitment to what I wanted to do, there was no stopping me. Being a business owner, and a woman-owned business owner, on a Main Street, in a prime location is something I am so proud of.
