Ilya Aronovich

I and my wife, both immigrants from the former Soviet Union, have lived in the district for 16 years. I have a BA from Rutgers and JD from Fordham School of Law. While at Fordham, I was editor-in-chief of the Fordham Journal of Corporate and Financial Law. I also served as the national president of a Latino men’s fraternity. After law school, I clerked for the Honorable and legendary Milton Pollack (now deceased), senior federal district judge, SDNY.

I now serve as vice president on the board of the Silverstein Hebrew Academy in Great Neck. For the past 15 years, I have been a successful technology entrepreneur, with offices in the community, and I have appeared many times on and in national media, including on CNBC and CNN. My wife, Julia, is an OB/GYN physician practicing on Long Island and a former National Champion Ballroom Dancer. Together we are raising four beautiful children, who do or will attend private school. However, the vast majority of our friends have their children in our district’s excellent public schools, and I care deeply about the district and the community.

I consider the most important issue facing our district to be the challenge to provide everything we need to continually improve student performance and experience while not overburdening district taxpayers.

I consider the most important issue facing our community to be its recent polarization surrounding the recent and impending bond votes. I strongly feel that continued antagonism of the kind that we’ve been hearing on the street and seeing on social and traditional media in the community bring out our worst characteristics as human beings and will lead to nothing good.

Once elected, I intend on using my wide-ranging business and organizational leadership experience to help deliver continued excellence at the district schools, while exerting the utmost diligence in the solicitation and use of taxpayer funds. I also look to use my diverse background to bridge the gaps between the different communities in our district, so that everyone can work together to make our district and community an even more desirable place to raise a family.
