John Parasco

John Parasco lives in Manhasset and is a member of the Manhasset Art Association. The cover art of Manhasset Press Magazine is his painting titled “The Big Game,” is acrylic on canvas.

“I painted and drew in the early ‘70s then I went to Wall Street in the ‘80s and didn’t pick up art again until 2010,” says Parasco, who is self-taught and now retired. “I enjoy a broad spectrum of art and varying subject matter and my interest is in seizing a personal and intimate view in common place people and subjects.”

Parasco says that he prefers acrylics because they dry quickly and are easier to work with than oil. He has also done pencil drawings and finds it as a nice time to reflect.

“The Big Game” was on display in the fall at the Bryant Library in Roslyn for the Manhasset Art Association’s “Art at the Pond” series. Those who are fans of Parasco’s work can now buy limited edition prints with his signature.

“Stylistically, I always let the subject matter dictate the painted effect portrayed, allowing life’s experiences to be recorded as stories told,” he says, “I hope you enjoy the view.”
