Lifelong Great Neck resident Raymond A. Plakstis Sr. died on Sept. 16. The owner of the long-established automotive repair shop Doray Ent., Ray was a veteran of the Korean War, member of the B.P.O.E. and a member of the NRA.
Ray was involved in auto racing at an early age with his father Tony Plakstis (Plakstis Racing). They raced Midget race cars throughout the country. Later Ray raced mostly in the Northeast. He also owned McCutchenville Speedway in Ohio.
Raymond A. Plakstis Sr. is survived by his sons Raymond Jr. and wife Donna and Thomas McDonough and grandchildren Thomas Jr. Kelly, Tyler, Erin and Ryan.
A Mass of Christian Burial as held Thursday, Sept. 19 at St. Aloysis Roman Catholic Church in Great Neck. Interment was at St. Johns Cemetery, Middle Village, Queens.
